Richmond, Virginia

CHAPTER HISTORY

The Richmond Chapter of the Department of Virginia, Reserve Officers Association of the United States, was issued a new Chapter Charter on 4 February 1987. The new charter changed the chapter name to the MAJOR GENERAL J. E. B. STUARTCHAPTER.  The Chapter President at that time was Colonel  J. A. Barton Campbell.

In the years since, the chapter has continued to support the objectives of ROA in a number of ways.  One way is by sponsoring ROTC cadets to the ROA/Department of Defense Seminar in Washington, D.C. during the national ROA Mid-Winter Conference.  Another way has been to present medals to deserving students in ROTC and JROTC units in the Richmond area.  The chapter has periodically arranged for speakers on timely topics related to National Security, current events and military history. The chapter activities also have included visits to historic sites in the area.

Chapter presidents since COL Campbell have included Lieutenant Colonel Owen Waltman, Colonel Gene Norman, Colonel Dave Fleming, Colonel Tom Stephen, Lieutenant Colonel Mary Bliss, Lieutenant Colonel David Sitler, and COL Joe Corley.
